Several of the candidates for Fair Football Alliance Milestone Club certification are not only historically, geographically and ethically remarkable clubs — they are also making their mark on the pitch. Next weekend the eagerly anticipated play-off between Guernsey FC and Peacehaven & Telscombe will take centre stage, but this week two potential Milestone Club candidates have the chance to reach a historic moment of their own.
Barry Town Athletic
Barry Town Athletic FC, the southernmost club in the Welsh football pyramid, will face Croeserw Athletic FC from the Port Talbot Premier League today at 18:00 UK time on neutral ground at the Dragonbet Stadium in Bridgend. Barry Town Athletic are champions of the Vale of Glamorgan Premier Division, and the winner of this play-off will earn promotion to the South Wales Premier League Division One East.
FC Oberstdorf
The other club on the brink of promotion is FC Oberstdorf, the southernmost club in the German football pyramid. An away win tomorrow at 14:00 CET at TSV Oberstaufen would secure the Kreisliga Allgäu Süd title and with it promotion to the Bezirksliga.
